dry wall

The progress of the house has been cruising and now we will see everything begin to slow down. The dry wall was put up throughout the house and has been taped and mudded. This week they should be doing the texturing. We are meeting with the cabinet people tomorrow and that will be the next thing happening inside. That should be about 2 or more weeks to accomplish. Outside the house has not changed we saw our samples for the stucco color and stone. We were very happy with the stucco color, however, the stone looked nothing like the color we choose in the office. So more work will be needed inorder to get the right stone color for jess. It is starting to really take shape and we can now get a great idea of how everything will look.

insulation and dry wall

This week has been a busy one inside the house. The insulation was sprayed and the drywall began today. We decided to do the new foam insulation. It is very cool to watch as they spray it on in a liquid form and it instantly begins to expand and fill in the frame work. This helps conserve energy by keeping the heat out and the cold in. We have gone through houses that had the foam insulation and the house was cool. The crazy thing was that a home 2 times a big as our current one had a smaller electricty bill. Over the next couple of weeks they will be working on the dry wall. Outside the stucco work continued and they are preparing for stone work. We were excited to see after the multiple errors with the laundry chute that it was finally done right. The house is coming together nicely and we continue to look forward to move in day.

stucco

This week we were excited to see the stucco started. They have been working all week on getting the stucco up around the house. They put it on looking like cement and later on the color goes into it. So no our house will not end up being this ugly gray. The stone will be going on very soon as well. Inside the house electrical wiring and low voltage wiring were ran throughout. The two pocket doors were put in and the casing for the master tub was put in. The front door jam was also installed. Some errors in framing were fixed, however when the laundry chute was finally cut open a bundle of electrical wires were exposed directly in the path of the chute. yes the electricians used the same holes that the plumbers used and moved from because they were direclty under the chute. Well the electricians must have thought oh how great pre-drilled holes, but never thought maybe there is a reason they were pre-drilled.

Here is the framing for the master tub.
